How the silver premium is calculated

Total cost is the price per item multiplied by quantity, plus total shipping and tax. Reference metal value is fine silver content multiplied by the reference price per fine troy ounce.

Premium percentage = (total cost − reference metal value) ÷ reference metal value × 100.

For example, one fine troy ounce bought for $55 against a $50 reference has a $5 premium, or 10%, with no shipping or tax. These are hypothetical prices. Use verified purity and select fine weight only when the weight already represents silver content.

You can enter a manual reference price when market data is delayed or unavailable. Reference value is not a guaranteed dealer resale offer. How spot silver differs from SLV and SHIL.
